In the Church of England (and as a national Church) we are committed to having a presence in each local community, which means everyone lives in a parish. Some parishes are more affluent than others, so to enable all parishes to have some form of ministry, money is raised and distributed by the Diocese (in our case the Diocese of York) so that ministry might be shared.
The money is raised voluntarily through what is called the Parish Share and we have committed ourselves to pay £11,700 to the Diocese in 2025. This is on top of all the costs associated with the running of the church. As such we need to raise a considerable amount of money each year, which by and large comes from the congregation. Like all charities, it helps a great deal to have a predictable income, so giving in a committed, regular way, helps a great deal. You can give in cash, by standing order and by direct debit or by using the QR Code or Link to ‘Give a Little’ . Gift Aid gives us even more!
We have been asked by Archbishop Stephen to share with our congregation a printable leaflet which helps understanding of the importance each Parish Free Will Offer has within the Diocese. The leaflet is available here.
